Please support the NOVA Chamber Foundation with a donation for Giving Tuesday

In Chamber Blog, Foundation by admin

During this season of thankfulness, we have a lot to be thankful for. The Northern Virginia Chamber Foundation is largely a start-up. In 2020 we rebranded and expanded the mission of what was the largely inactive Valor Scholarship Fund to become the Foundation. Our purpose is to build a stronger community by establishing programs that benefit the citizens and businesses of Northern Virginia. We are primarily focused on workforce innovation and advancing diversity and social equity in the Northern Virginia Region.

The Foundation’s current projects include three major primary research endeavors: The NOVA Workforce Index, Northern Virginia Champions for Accountability, and the Capital Digital Talent project. The Foundation also hosts and facilitates two inclusive network communities: the NOVA Workforce Network and the Greater Washington Apprentice Network. We also continue to honor the legacy scholarship program.

This important work would not possible without the support of our donors, sponsors, and partners.

I’d like to take a moment to recognize and thank those who have supported the Foundation with donations of $1,000 or more, our Friends of the Foundation.  We are deeply thankful for our Friends.

This year we launched a new giving level, Workforce Leaders. This is a special category created to honor others by making a donation in their name as a way to thank or recognize them for good deeds.

Our inaugural Workforce Leader is Bud Morrisette.

We are grateful for the corporate sponsors of the NOVA Workforce Network: Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and the SkillSource Group.

And we appreciate our knowledge partners who make our important and impactful research possible:

Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College, and McKinsey & Company.

We are also grateful to the Greater Washington Government Contracting Awards for highlighting the work of the NOVA Chamber Foundation as their 2022 Charity Partner and helping us build awareness spread the word about the GovCon Cohort of the Greater Washington Apprentice Network. In addition to the GovCon Corhort, we also have industry specific cohorts for Banking and Accounting with new cohorts for HR and Tech launching soon.

And last but not least I would like to thank and recognize the Foundation’s amazing Board of Directors:

  • Chairman: Kathryn Falk, Cox Communications
  • Barry Biggar, Visit Fairfax
  • Julie Coons, Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce
  • Len Forkas, Milestone Communications
  • Cathy Lange, Human Capital Advisors
  • Kevin Reynolds, United Bank
  • Tracy Schario, MITRE

We would be deeply grateful if you would make a donation to the NOVA Chamber Foundation for Giving Tuesday. Donations of any amount are appreciated. Donations of $1,000+ are recognized as Friends of the Foundation.
